Q. Can I load the output from Real-time PCR (RT-PCR) applications such as ABI Taqman® System or Bio-Rad iCyclerTM System analysis software directly into GeneSpring?

A. While these applications do not produce measurements that can be directly imported into GeneSpring, the process of transforming these data into a format that can be directly loaded (ΔΔCT values) is usually a simple one. Depending on the type of data that your RT-PCR system exports natively, there will be different methods for calculating ΔΔCT. Please see vendor bulletins and instruction manuals for further details.

GeneSpring provides a transformation that will convert ΔΔCT values into those that correlate with target RNA levels. This transform will convert the imported measurement, ΔΔCT into R, as follows:

Once delta-delta CT values are converted, the resulting measurements (R) are more directly comparable to microarray measurements.
