Q. How do I load Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR) data into GeneSpring?

A. RT-PCR data can be loaded and analyzed in its own, dedicated genome. More often, when RT-PCR data is used for validating results from a microarray experiment, the data can be loaded into the same genome originally created for the chip type used. If this is the case, be sure that genes in the RT-PCR data file imported are identified by the same identifiers used in raw microarray data files.

As with all gene expression technologies, data saved as tab-delimited text format can be loaded. If the data corresponds to a column of gene names followed by a series of columns each corresponding to RNA measurements taken at specific conditions (i.e. conc=0mg/ml, conc=10mg/ml, etc), then use the File | Import Data menu feature and specify the file format as a 'custom' format.
