Workshop Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of computers are provided for training?
A: We provide Windows / PC computers. If you bring data, be sure to save it to a PC-formatted CD or zip disc.
Q: Can I bring my own data?
A: Yes, users are strongly encouraged to bring their own data. Raw data files should be in tab-delimited text format. If possible, also bring a tab-delimited text file corresponding to a table of gene information for the genes on the array used. About one to two hours will be provided each day to allow users to work with their own data or with sample data files provided. Since PCs will be used in the workshop setting (unless you choose to bring your own Mac laptop), please bring files saved on a CD.
Q: Are there any discounts for Academics and Not-for-Profit (NFP) Research Institutes?
A: Yes, we offer a 25% Academic/NFP discount. Please see the main workshop page for pricing information.
Q: Can I get a certificate for completion of each course?
A: Yes, a certificate will be given out during the workshop. If you do not receive one, please send an email to workshops@silicongenetics.com referencing your name and date of training.
Q: How do you decide where to host workshops?
A: Locations are chosen based on multiple requests. Please email us at workshops@silicongenetics.com to submit a 'vote' for your location along with the desired course. Or you may consider organizing an on-site workshop for your organization, department or school.
Q: If lunch is provided, are vegetarian meals available?
A: For our publicly advertised workshops, we do make arrangements for lunch. Please email us at the time of registration to request a vegetarian meal. Our email is workshops@silicongenetics.com.
