Technical Alert for GeneSpring 6.1
Silicon Genetics has identified an issue in GeneSpring version 6.1 (released 24-Nov-2003, Build 1488) that can potentially produce incorrect results when principal components analysis (PCA) is performed on a set of conditions. In certain cases, the scores associated with conditions are incorrectly labeled. In other cases, when PCA is performed on an interpretation that uses replicates, the scores associated with conditions may not be correct.
Silicon Genetics has issued a patch that resolves this issue. We strongly encourage users performing condition-based PCA to download version 6.1.1 by selecting Update GeneSpring from the Help menu. Click the Update Program button to navigate to the download page.
Technical Alert for GeneSpring 5.X
Silicon Genetics would like to inform GeneSpring users about a situation
that occurs in the unlikely case that the default gene label in the
GeneSpring preferences window has been changed (in the
Preferences > Gene Label tab). The use of any Primary Gene Label other
than "Systematic Name" is likely to produce discrepancies in the
number of genes that are returned in many subsequent analyses.
To ensure that the correct number of genes is always returned, all
GeneSpring users should make sure that the Primary Gene
Label is set to "Systematic Name."
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused our
customers. This issue has been resolved in GeneSpring 6.
